Due to architectural constraints, a special hip connection was required.
Special Moment Connection
Moment connection of jack beam to column
Tube column brace connection
The SHSU Observatory dome columns required a special connection between the brace, wall girt and skewed columns.
Tube Bracing Intersection
The EOR on this project specified HSS tube bracing for the MWFRS, which required a unique solution at not only the ends but at the intersections as well.
Simple Shear Connection
The mezzanine shear connection (knife plate) was checked in numerous programs to ensure code compliance and finite element stresses.
Tube and Wide flange Hybrid connection
Due to architectural restraints, this FR moment connection was employed to connect many unique shapes.
Stub Beam to Column Web
This project required a stub that would resist shear, moment and torsion and attach to the web of the supporting column. A coped beam with CJP welds and full depth stiffeners was the most effective solution.
FR Extended Stiffened End Plate
This connection follows AISC DG 4 criteria and is common in bolt-up buildings.
Door Header to column connection
This project had 37-ft wide doors that required a heavy structural header tube. Due to the torsion and shear loads, an endplate configuration was utilized.
Chevron Brace
Due to clearance requirements in this building, the MWFRS loading was required to be transferred to adjacent bracing systems via a chevron brace.
Fuel Station Canopy Connection
For this fuel station, HSS columns and W-shape rafters were needed with bolted FR moment connections.
Beam over Column connection
For this connection, both a HSS cap plate and a shear tab were needed at this intersection.
